The Winnicut River flows north from Hampton/North Hampton, NH, out to Great Bay's southeastern shores in Greenland, NH. The photos, however, are arranged south to north (from downstream to upstream) out of personal preference, beginning with shots of the tidally influenced section in Greenland, to those of the river where much of its headwaters originate in North Hampton.

Looking south (Great Bay is thus behind the photographer), this shot shows the river as it flows through the Weeks Brick House conservation lands. It is tidally influenced here, as evident by the exposed muddy banks. |

The tidally influenced section of the river continues to wind through the conservation land behind the Weeks Brick House and Gardens, Greenland, NH. |

Just upstream from the previous shot, here the dam is shown being removed in 2009. Behind the wall was an impound, often stocked with trout by Fish & Game, and approximately 8 or 9 feet deep. |
|
Earlier this year (spring 2011), this eagle grabbed a herring where the former dam impound used to be, just down from the Rte 33 bridge in Greenland, NH |
